Tammas Slater

Tammas Slater is a London-based pianist, organist and composer. Following studies at Chetham’s School of Music, he attended Cambridge University, studying both Music and History and Philosophy of Science, and during his studies he was Organ Scholar at Gonville and Caius College. As a soloist, collaborative musician and conductor, he has performed a variety of repertoires – from mediaeval to contemporary – at a diverse range of venues from Uppsala Cathedral to Vortex, the Bridgewater Hall to Radio Hall, Bucharest.


A winner of BBC Young Composer of the Year, his works have been performed and commissioned by, among others, the BBC Singers, Aurora Orchestra, Fidelio Trio and the Choir of Jesus College, Cambridge, New MusicNorth West and HOME Theatre, Manchester. His work as a composer extends beyond conventional Western Classical concert settings, also extending to free improvisation and sound art. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Ensemble Piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and is Assistant Director of Music at St Michael’s Church, Highgate.
